At Shane Training Centre, our tutors are the backbone of our success. Each of our instructors is a highly experienced educator with extensive knowledge of ESL teaching methodologies and the Trinity CertTESOL program.

From the moment you join, our tutors are committed to providing you with the support, guidance, and expertise you need to excel as an ESL teacher.

All our trainers hold a minimum of a level 7 (Ofqual) Post-graduate Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (DipTESOL) and have upwards of 6 years’ experience in the field of ESOL teaching and teacher training.

Gavin Addison

Gavin Addison – Course Director

Gavin has been an EFL teacher for nearly 20 years and has been running the Trinity Cert and Diploma courses since 2011. He has lived and worked in Japan since 2004 and has a great deal of experience as a teacher, trainer and examiner. He also enjoys climbing mountains and trail running in his spare time.

Mark Gardner

Mark Gardner – Trainer

Mark has been an EFL teacher for almost 20 years. He has worked in China, Poland, and the U.K. and has been working in Japan since 2007. During his role as a senior teacher, he has gained experience in training workshops, teacher development and overseeing the running of a busy language school. He has an interest in fiction writing and history and is a keen runner and football fan.

Sam Holman

Sam Holman – Trainer

Sam has been teaching EFL in the U.K. and abroad since 2004. During this time, he has gained vast experience teaching all levels and ages in both mixed and single nationality classes. This has led to him holding various academic leadership and senior teaching roles. He has also acquired a large amount of exposure to a variety of exam and business classes. He enjoys the cultural arts and all things cycling.

Mark Horrocks

Mark Horrocks – Trainer

Mark has been an EFL teacher for over 10 years, in London and Tokyo. During his role as Assistant Director of Studies he has helped support and train both teachers and school staff. He regularly contributes articles on teaching, and life/travel in Japan for the monthly newsletter and has developed several schemes of work/lesson guides to assist new teachers. He is a keen swimmer, art-lover, and enjoys exploring the countryside of Japan. He also has a PhD in Electroacoustic music Composition and works with contemporary dance performers in both Tokyo and London.
